As the morning warmed up, a pair of Steller’s Jays were observed taking refuge in the shade of our Roma's. ![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg38cVa4DcmH0SPRtF9lCIyBGr5Ms5UK3LxRWf48c-O0-HpVxRD4mTvx-_XNqMl06u37jGUjLXpiGlHbJwMXhBNfMVZgjbX3wlCrO0Pz6qw_q2vfUS4DNNG52oIj6o_BPu0tH6fIJRk2gft/s320/IMG_1289.JPG)
Supposedly not that unusual, but getting close enough to take pictures was unexpected.
They didn’t stick around though, and scolded us in no uncertain terms as they swooped away.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEHx-mazKCdc4K6mGQf33O3XDPnbqLlTY2B8bzLLqPgol_UtyJfNjA9P2zuFzXEx2Y3fbTT6__lQ7ln0Yb0yGigx1rjedOSVIV8UN1PUb8sfdGfMJf7-m6LOXBMkzM48W9SVnFD49MP1FL/s320/IMG_1292.JPG)
We haven't seen the last of these cantankerous vagabonds though - they'll be back soon enough.
