Careless casualty

OK, I feel like crap. This delicate climber, a double flowering purple clematis, has been doing whatever we've asked of it for the last couple of years to drape an out of the way arbor.

So how do you repay one of the most exotic bloomers in the backyard? Well naturally you kill her by slicing through her stem near the ground with a weeder. I know, I feel like crap.

Oh, there have been other casualties, but there was something tragic about the loss of this lovely not-so-perennial lady - like a beautiful bird had been slain.

This is the way we'd like to...sniff...remember her.

Geez, the guilt already.

  1. What a shame. You should feel very guilty! I'm sending around the plant police. If it helps any... clematis are usually pretty fast growing.
