The calm, sort of, before the storm

Taylor Dock and Bellingham Bay
Two hours before Bellingham's Independence Day firework display, this tranquil shot of the bay belies an orgy of blowing crap up for the sake of blowing crap up that will soon take place and that crowds had been gathering all day to witness across the trestle and along the shore.

Boulevard Park was filling up as fast as we could make the circuit on our jog tonight.

In no time at all Casey looked like he'd had enough Americana for one afternoon. Now we just had to hunker down til dawn's early light.

And repeat to ourselves with M80s thundering through neighborhoods, until we're lucky enough to get to sleep...it's just once a year that freedom has to ring like this, just once a year.

Waiting for the big show.

  1. At least you had a nice day for it! I sort of like looking at a firework display once in a while but I don't like the sound associated with them and I don't like the effect it has on Boris and other canine friends.
