Trip to Twisted S

Saturday turned out to be a decent day for an outing, so we took part in the annual county farm and food tour.

First stop, the Twisted S Ranch in Ferndale, where a visitor or customer can check out the livestock and take a step back into the North American frontier at the same time.

The Twisted S raises all natural bison (buffalo) on native grasses free of pesticides and its buffalo cuts, including bison steaks, roasts, burger patties, jerky, sausage, bison dogs and short ribs, can be found all over Whatcom County.

Today’s crowds got up close and personal with Vinny or Vindicator, a 6-year-old Bison bull, and his harem and off-spring – everyone that is but Casey, way out of his herding safety zone.

But he did get to hang around long enough for an  organic treat of grass-fed bison - as if he was ever that particular.
