Fall on urban slopes

View from Sehome Hill toward Mt Baker and our neighborhood on ridgeline

Fall, falling, fallen. That’s the way the season
Changes its tense…the leaves drift away
From their branches and gather slowly at our feet,
Sliding over our ankles, and the season begins moving
Around us even as its colorful weather moves us,
Even as it pulls us into its dusty, twilit pockets.

From Fall by Edward Hirsch

The autumn transformation really snuck up on us this year, but who's complaining.
Fall colors on Sehome Hill

Backyard sweet gum and autumn blaze maple
Samish Ridge - our neighborhood's in there somewhere
