Not so fast

Anticipation, anticipation
Is makin' me late
Is keepin' me waitin'
                 Carly Simon

Back on July 13th we posted that the blackberries, Bellingham's hundreds and hundreds of acres of blackberries, were in full bloom. Today it looks like it's been well worth the wait.

According to Wikipedia, "the blackberry tends to be red during its unripe ("green") phase, leading to an old expression that blackberries are red when they're green."

Well, nobody's telling us anything, but these newbie black ones can cause a pucker too.

It  won't be long now though...and in a matter of days it will seem like the whole town is foraging in the brambles for this
pre-cobbler bounty.
