As summer ebbs

Within just a few short weeks our corner lot is now navigable for Border Collie and man alike. It's been awhile. Wild tall grass, now going to seed, is a sure sign that summer is dwindling.
In May and June it was over our heads, and more than a spring carpet of
dandelions, poppies, and daisies could withstand for long.

Today fall leaves and snowdrifts just don't seem that far away.
