Sunset sights

A lone bumble bee ventured out on the lavenders after an early evening rainshower.  Dozens were swarming the shrubs a half hour earlier, but a photo op was lost due to a telephone call I had to take.

I watched in awe from a front window with the phone in hand until they dispersed with the rain.

The hardy fuschia weren't nearly as much of a draw as their pale violet berm neighbors...at least today.

Many of the bees chose the base of the fushia though to escape the waning showers. Apparently a single raindrop can put these aerodynamically unsound pollinators out of commission, according to our pest control specialist neighbor, and they head for cover.

No aurora borealis tonight, but the sunset was a wonder.
