Casey's stroll with the "girl next door"

The skies cleared up, after two days of gentle rain, and the conditions were ripe for a walk in the woods with the girl next door.

Neah, an energetic almost-4-year-old Black Lab, that Casey would have a crush on if he knew how, came along with her “Grandma” Terri for an off-leash romp.

Neah was never out of Overdrive, which is how she “rolls” anyway.  Today was a real treat for her – to be able to set the pace and blaze her own trails with occasional side trips.

Casey spent most of the afternoon just trying to anticipate Neah's next move.

The only time Neah or Casey slowed down was near the falls and creek area, where leashes were required  - and really for their own good anyway.  Neither knows enough fear to do much for our comfort levels.

House-sitting for her son and daughter-in-law (our next-door neighbors Jason and Jenn), Terri felt it was critical to have the same number of pets in the house when they returned.

Things did get complicated on the trail on the way home when Casey and Neah came upon three other Black Labs.  Not too complicated.

Casey chose the tried-and-true “drop-and-cover” while trying to sort things out.  Probably a good move...Neah alone is enough of a challenge.

Look who's draggin' for a change.

Hang in there, kid.
